We Have A Winner and an Award!!

It's finally Friday!! Woo-hoo!! This week has just been crazy! We are getting down to the final preparations for our neighborhood block party. I hope the kids enjoy this, I'm sure all of us adults will! With that said, I'm afraid I'm going to have to take a couple of weeks off from Friday Flea Market. I just have entirely too much going on right now! How sad huh? After just getting my new blog up and going, I don't even have time to work with it! I promise to come back with vengeance!!
Speaking of my new blog, today is the day to announce the winner of my give away! Thank you all so much for stopping by my Grand Opening!! I met a lot of new people and found more blogs to be addicted to!!

"Alright, get on with it already!" says Cinnamerella from the fireplace! What's up with the dog taking over my fireplace? Who does she think she is anyway?! She knows she's the queen of the house, that's what's up!!
Prince Charming was my trusty assistant tonight. Drum roll please........

Betty of She's Sew Pretty!!
Yeah!! Congratulations Betty!! Betty is such a sweetie! xoxo
For everyone else, I have something coming up again in a few days. Check back, you could still be receiving something from me.
RANDOM: I just had to show you the visitor I had the other night. He has made a home in my mulch, under my lavender. There is a virtual smorgasbord of insects out there. Naturally the kids love him and want to bring him inside to make him a pet!! While I'm sure he would make a great pet, he seems pretty happy where he is AND he's taking care of my pests.

I don't know why I refer to it as a him. How would you tell on a toad? Better yet, why would you care? Anyway, what ever it is, it got pretty used to the fanfare and paparazzi. Would you look at it pose?
"Come, come closer! Look into my beady eyes and let me lay a big smoochimus on you!!" Spoken in his best French accent. I know I've completely lost it. This happens when one is EXTREMELY sleep deprived. No? oui! oui!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok now if you have hung around through that silliness, look at what I got!! My dear, darling, friend Rachael at The Rose Room bequeathed me with this award at the beginning of August. I'm so behind, I'm just now getting around to posting it!! I don't think that I could have received a more appropriate award!! This is the Wylde Woman Award!!
Smoochie, smoochie Rachael!!
Thrifting Treasures
Hi all!! I hope you have had a great Labor Day weekend. (Especially thinking of those on the Gulf Coast.) We started the weekend by doing a little thrifting and finally, just relaxing. I thought I would share my thrift finds with you all.
I love this old mirror. I DESPERATELY needed a full size mirror and this one is GORGEOUS! Now I just need to find it a home!!
I was so excited to find these old pins for $1 each!!
These silver candlestick holders were only $1 each...
along with all these old books.
This German fairy tale book is just neat
and the French translation book is a hoot with the greatest illustrations!!
"Puppy Love"
This jar just begged to come home with me. How could I refuse?
It was right across from this old frame that I practically stole!!
It has a few dings, but that makes it perfect to paint. I have a hard time painting the ones that are in REALLY good condition.
I love to hang these old empty frames around my house.
And finally this old tool box! I can't wait to paint it! I just haven't decided what color yet!
Remember if you haven't signed up for my giveaway, there's still time!! Just pop over to my other blog and leave me a comment. I'll post the winner next Friday.
Happy Labor Day!!
Back to school and blocks
Both girls went back to school yesterday. We were all kind of sad. It just seems like this summer went SO fast! We spent the last week doing and going and going and going. Or at least that's what it felt like. I was exhausted!! Both my girls were excited to get back to school and see their friends. I'm just thankful they both enjoy it so much.
It was weird to come home to a quiet house. Normally DH makes sure to take the day off and keep me occupied, but it just didn't work out this year. Yeah...I'm spoiled. Anyway, I took advantage of my free 6 hours.
My neighborhood throws an annual block party every year. This year it will be Sept. 13th. The planning committee waited until LAST WEEK to have the first meeting. I was busy and did not go, hoping I would miss out on any "volunteering". WRONG!! Guess who they nominated for the "Children's Activity Committee". Whoopee!! So I've been working on that non-stop! HELLO!! We only have a few weeks to get this together!
Not only that, I, along with my two neighbors were signed up to hand deliver the flyers and blocks. The blocks are 3-1/2" wooden squares that each family should decorate representing their family, then return to the party. Great "getting to know you" idea and my favorite.....embellishing!! We delivered our determined amount of flyers and blocks on Saturday. We had some left over blocks so I took a couple of extra. In case my muse was hiding again. Yesterday this (along with the normal house duties) became my focus.
This was my first attempt.
Well they said represent your family!!
Blah!!! Good thing I kept an extra block.
Now that's more like it!
The Fairy A.S.C Family!!
Some of these photos turned out a little dark thanks to this! The remnants of "Faye". I am so thankful and so are my little flowers!!
As promised, stay tuned on Friday for a give away!! We switched Internet providers or I would have done it this past Friday.
Happy Tuesday!!
Where has summer gone?
It's hard to believe "Back to School" time is here already!! Summer break has just not been long enough it seems. Most days anyway!
I have watched them create childhood memories of lazy summer days filled with friends and frivolous play. Those are the memories that you look back on with greatest affection as an adult.
They have spent mornings dragging my china around for tea parties........
and afternoons playing dress up.
These are the kind of priceless moments that I'm glad I thought to grab my camera!!
This is Alex's last year of middle school, a high school-er next year:(
and Kaylen is headed to 3rd grade.
So we'll spend the next few days playing all day, buying school supplies, and just enjoying our time that we have left.
If you're still hanging in here with me through this parade of family pics, I'm working on something special next week for Friday Flea Market. Maybe a give away.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
xoxo,
Wynken, Blynken and Nod
Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe--
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.
The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea--
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish--
Never afeared are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.
All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam--
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe
Bringing the fishermen home;
'Twas all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought, 'twas a dream they'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea--
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.
Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
Is the wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while Mother sings
Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.
Creative
In the midst of cleaning house this weekend, my creative muse took off and what can you do? Just go with it. This has been such a hectic summer, I've had little time left for artsy stuff.
A while back I won a goody package from Sharon at My Vintage Studio. She included this darling antique baby spoon. I have held on to it until inspiration hit. I love the way old silver and lace look together! I call this one "Joie" because that's exactly what babies are: joy.
So while cleaning out my creative space, I ran across a stash of birds that I had forgotten about. Surplus birds+surplus vintage china=Princess Eva. She made her little nest in one of my vintage china teacups.
Flowers, pearls, lace and all!!
Both of these little sweeties are available in my Etsy shop. I'm attempting to knock the cobwebs off my creative side and get back with it!! Maybe if I would clean more, I could find that inspiration!!
Have a fabulous Monday!!
